UK Security Expo wins Best Feature for Innovation at EN Awards 2017

UK Security Expo 2016 collected the award for the most innovative ‘Best Feature’ for the Home Office and CPNI Crowded Places Demonstrator at the prestigious Exhibition News Awards ceremony in front of 1,100 attendees at the ICC Capital, ExCeL London, 30th March 2017.Protecting crowded places from terrorist threats is one of society’s great security challenges and top of the agenda for governments and security agencies globally.

In collaboration with the Home Office Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC) and the UK Security Service Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) the Crowded Places Demonstrator at UK Security Expo was an interactive feature, which showcased technologies from 24 SME companies in a real-life setting. The feature beat a shortlist of finalists which included major event organisers Clarion, UBM, Media 10 and Closer Still.

UK Security Expo Chief Executive, Peter Jones, said “we are thrilled to win this award as this is not just a proud moment for the show team, it’s also an important illustration of how government, via the Home Office JSaRC and CPNI can engage with industry to deliver a joint solution to a global security challenge. It was also a significant opportunity to help position the UK as a centre-of-excellence for security and through cooperation with the Department for International Trade DSO, 39 Official Hosted Country Delegations were able to see this award winning solution in action, further helping to boost UK Security Exports.”

Admiral Lord West, Former UK Security Minister, said “I am thrilled to see the combined efforts of the Home Office, CPNI and UK Security Expo win this prestigious award. It is a reflection on the real commitment from government to partner with industry and support growth of the security sector.”

Paul Swift, Director at Worth Events, who were selected as the feature-builder commented “This was a very complex feature with three interlinked zones and extensive logistical and technical requirements and we are delighted to be honoured with this award.”
