Africa is seeing a new time of integration of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and sustainability within the fire protection sector.

This evolution is now redefining how critical incidents are predicted and managed across the continent, with inventions ranging from predictive modelling to advanced firefighting foams and automated suppression systems.

In South Africa, Fidelity Services Group has introduced its FireNet AI platform.

Supporting the company’s SecureFire network, FireNet AI analyses data, including call volumes, high-risk zones, water availability, and traffic patterns, to forecast areas prone to fire hazards.

When an incident arises, the platform automatically identifies the nearest available response unit, dispatches it, and enables live operational monitoring from the National Command Centre.

FireNet AI operates on Fidelity’s private intelligence network, integrating fleet telemetry, weather data, environmental sensors, and geolocation services such as OpenStreetMap and TomTom.

The company’s Business Intelligence (FBI) division enhances situational awareness by employing advanced analytics and social media monitoring tools to detect community alerts in real time.

However, this is just the latest advancement in Africa’s firefighting industry.

Across the continent, the impact of Industry 4.0 is increasingly apparent in fire prevention and suppression systems.

Partnering with German developer FireDos, South Africa’s DoseTech Fire has been leading the charge for the adoption of automated firefighting technologies that blend digital intelligence with mechanical precision.

These advanced systems utilise 3D thermal imaging and smart analytics to monitor extensive industrial environments-including aircraft hangars, fuel depots, and waste recycling facilities-providing early fire detection and precise localisation of heat sources.

Once a threat is identified, remote-controlled FireDos monitors can discharge between 2,000 and 60,000 litres per minute of water or foam premix over distances of up to 150 metres, ensuring swift, targeted suppression while keeping personnel out of danger.

FireDos Smart Monitoring allows real-time remote supervision of equipment performance and proportioning rates, facilitating predictive maintenance, early troubleshooting, and minimising the need for on-site service.

DoseTech Fire is also leading the charge in promoting fluorine-free foam concentrates.

Together, the region is gearing up to face our new data-driven world.
