13 Aug East Africa makes move to bolster cybersecurity efforts

The East Africa region is considered one of the most vulnerable areas in Africa when it comes to cyber-crime.

In response to this, efforts are being made to identify and nurture the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

One of the initiatives driving this effort is the SecureTech East Africa Cyber Challenge, which has recently received a significant increase in funding.

The challenge is aimed at identifying and nurturing potential future experts in cybersecurity.

Scheduled to be a part of the Securexpo East Africa event, taking place in Nairobi, Kenya from October 15 to 17, the cyber challenge will bring together participants from across the region to address complex cybersecurity issues in a competitive and collaborative environment.

The event has received a boost with the confirmation of sponsorship from LAB Information Technology Incorporated (LABUSA), a company specialising in IT and cybersecurity solutions.

As a part of its dedication to promoting innovation and supporting the cybersecurity community, LABUSA has announced that the winner of the hackathon will be offered a paid internship with the company.

This internship presents a valuable opportunity for the recipient to gain practical experience, work alongside industry professionals, and contribute to real-world cybersecurity projects.

Furthermore, upon successful completion of the internship, there is the potential for the intern to be offered a position with LABUSA, which is headquartered in the United States.

LABUSA President, Martin Laster, expressed enthusiasm about the competition, highlighting it as a fantastic platform for aspiring IT professionals to showcase their skills and gain invaluable experience.
