Finance Transformation Africa 2026

September 30 - October 1

Johannesburg, South Africa at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton will host the most comprehensive financial services event on the African calendar: Finance Transformation Africa 2026 (FTA 2026).

Formerly known as Banking Transformation Africa, the summit has evolved to reflect a broader, more integrated financial landscape. One ticket now unlocks five specialised streams – Wealth, Insurance, Payments, Lending, and the flagship Finance Transformation track – making it the only pan-African platform where banking, insurance, fintech, and investment leaders meet under one roof.

Why the Evolution?

Africa’s financial services sector has outgrown the word “banking.” The most disruptive innovation is happening at the intersections: embedded lending, AI‑powered underwriting, instant cross-border payments, and robo-advisory for mass markets. FTA 2026 captures that reality. Delegates can send their team to master Insurance Digitisation while they focus on Strategic Cost Transformation, returning with a 360‑degree roadmap.

What Past Attendees Say

The event’s reputation is built on results. At the 2024 Banking Transformation Africa summit, Alestair Mawaneke, Group CEO of Chikwama Pay, noted: “Attending was a game-changer. We officially partnered with TransUnion as a direct result of connections made at the summit.”

Alcinda Massango, Head of Transactional Banking Sales Enablement at Rand Merchant Bank, added: “The quality of engagement and opportunities was exceptional. This has been the best event I’ve attended – and I’ve been to many.”

In 2025, the summit brought together executives from Absa, Standard Bank, Nedbank, FNB, MTN, Yoco, and FICO, among others. Discussions ranged from AI decisioning and cloud modernisation to cyber resilience and open finance. The 2026 edition expands that conversation across insurance, wealth, and lending – sectors previously underserved by traditional banking events.

What Makes FTA 2026 Different?

  1. Curated C‑suite access. This is not mass networking. The event features pre‑scheduled 1‑on‑1 matchmaking, a dedicated matchmaking hub, and concierge‑led introductions. Delegates meet the people who sign off on partnerships and technology budgets.
  2. Actionable streams. Each of the five tracks delivers case studies, not theory.
  • Wealth: robo-advisory, ESG portfolios, cross-border wealth structuring.
  • Insurance: zero‑touch claims, digital underwriting, fraud analytics.
  • Payments: instant interoperability, tokenisation, embedded payments.
  • Lending: alternative credit scoring, collections analytics, SME decisioning.
  • Flagship: AI, cloud migration, cyber resilience, open finance.
  1. The people who shape policy and practice. Regulators, heads of digital transformation, chief data officers, and founders of Africa’s fastest‑growing fintechs all share the same floor. As Ken Chikwanha, Executive Head of Data Governance at Standard Bank, said after the 2021 edition: “The organising committee was professional, the platform worked perfectly, and engaging with delegates was a pleasure.”
