KSA Bahrain fire and emergency services department receive multiple awards

The Fire and Emergency Services Department of NSA Bahrain has been recognized by Commander Navy Region Europe, Africa, Central (EURAFCENT) with three major annual awards for their excellent performance in the fiscal year 2023.

They were awarded for their Fire Prevention Program, Fire Officer and Fire Inspector categories. In addition, they were also selected as the runner-up for EURAFCENT Fire Department of the Year and Firefighter of the Year. These awards are a testament to the department’s commitment to meeting the standards and providing service to the community.

The department will now compete at the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) level for the opportunity to be recognized as the best in their respective categories. Fire Chief Shawn Herrera expressed his gratitude towards the command team and congratulated Battalion Chief Thanzeer Basheer and Captain Redmond Floyd for their contributions to the department. Basheer played a significant role in achieving accreditation by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International in March 2023, and Floyd revamped the inspection abatement process, reducing overall RACs of 4 and 5 by 25 per cent.

NSAB FESD comprises personnel from various countries, including the U.S., Bahrain, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and India. The diversity and collective talents of the team make them a unique and effective unit.

The commanding officer of NSA Bahrain, Capt. Zachariah Aperauch is proud of the team’s superior performance, pursuit of excellence, and commitment to the installation and everyone on board. The mission of NSA Bahrain is to provide security and efficient shore services to sustain the fleet, enable the fighters, and support the family with honour, courage, and commitment.
