Swedish safety footwear brand Monitor has announced the upcoming launch of what it claims to be the world’s first smart safety shoes, integrating advanced technology designed to detect falls and automatically alert emergency contacts.

Developed in collaboration with safety tech company Quin, the shoes are expected to hit the market in autumn 2025.

The footwear is designed to merge traditional safety features with intelligent systems, allowing wearers to store a medical ID and connect to professional rescue services.

Quin’s built-in technology will monitor movement and automatically send an alert with real-time location and status details to three pre-selected emergency contacts if a fall or abnormal incident is detected.

Monitor’s category manager Ove Nilsson said: “We are taking a significant step towards the future of work safety. This is the next level in both protection and technology.”

The shoes, controllable via a dedicated app, also include Quin’s ResQ function, which can connect directly to the nearest rescue team and provide essential information about the wearer’s health and the incident.

The aim is to enable faster, more informed responses in emergency situations.

Ani Surabhi, CEO of Quin, described the partnership as a breakthrough for workplace safety: “Together, we’re not just creating a smart shoe – we’re shaping the future of workplace safety by making groundbreaking technology accessible to those who need it most.”

Niclas Brandshage, marketing manager at Båstadgruppen, Monitor’s parent company, added: “Our collaboration with Quin is a natural part of our long-term strategy to integrate technology and advanced functionality to improve safety in workplaces.”

Combining the look and comfort of modern sports footwear with the resilience of traditional safety shoes, the smart line marks a major shift in how wearable technology is used on industrial job sites. The product will launch across selected markets from autumn 2025.
