MTN Business and Cloudflare, Inc. have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership, aimed at providing Zero Trust and Application Services as a managed service to corporate clients in South Africa.

This collaboration marks MTN as the first Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) in the region to offer Cloudflare’s Zero Trust cybersecurity solutions, delivering a comprehensive suite of managed services to businesses throughout the country.

As organisations navigate the complexities of hybrid work environments and face a dynamic threat landscape, the need for robust cybersecurity solutions has never been greater. In the second quarter of 2025 alone, Cloudflare’s security measures thwarted an average of 277 million cyber threats per day across Africa, with the Telecommunications sector experiencing 49 per cent of mitigated requests, followed by Banking/Financial Services/Insurance at 22.7 per cent, Retail at 8.3 per cent, Newspapers at 3.3 per cent, and Gaming/Gambling at 3.2 per cent. Additionally, the firm blocked an average of 1.5 billion (4 per cent) cyber attacks daily, primarily classified as DDoS attacks originating in South Africa.

“The challenges businesses face in South Africa demand a one-stop solution for security,” said David Behr, Executive for MTN ICT Converged Solutions. “We are excited to be the first Cloudflare MSSP partner in South Africa, as this partnership allows us to offer best-in-class cybersecurity solutions and market-leading protection to our customers.”

Cloudflare’s Chief Partner Officer, Tom Evans, added: “Cloudflare uniquely offers a broad range of network security and SASE services through a unified platform built on our own infrastructure. Partnering with service providers like MTN is crucial for extending essential security protections at scale. We are committed to helping businesses across Africa reinforce their security posture while optimising costs.”
