An explosion at a feed mill in Malmesbury, South Africa, resulted in the death of one worker and left two others with serious injuries.

The incident occurred at a facility operated by Quantum Foods.

In an official statement, Quantum Foods confirmed that one of their workers, who had been critically injured in the blast, passed away during the night after being rushed to hospital. Two other employees were also hospitalised and are reported to be in serious but stable condition.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown, though foul play is not suspected.

Quantum Foods assured that all safety protocols were adhered to during and after the incident. Automated emergency equipment was successfully activated, and a roll call confirmed the safety of all employees on site.

Emergency services, including fire and police, responded to secure the site and protect personnel. Firefighters managed to control the blaze caused by the explosion and stabilised the environment, the statement cited.

Despite the explosion, physical damage was confined to equipment in the raw material intake area. Quantum Foods reported that operating activities continued in the unaffected parts of the feed mill.
