27 Oct Genetec introduces audio communications to Security Center SaaS

Genetec has announced the launch of cloud-native audio communications capabilities for its Security Center SaaS.

This addition builds on over a decade of expertise in providing intercom and SIP-based audio solutions via its on-premises platform, now delivering real-time voice functionality within the same intuitive cloud-based interface that already integrates video, access control, and intrusion monitoring.

With communications seamlessly embedded within Security Center SaaS, operators can interact with individuals at entry points, verify identities through live video, and take immediate action without the need to switch between different tools or interfaces.

“Our goal is to give customers the same freedom with audio that they already expect from video and access control,” said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec Inc. “Organisations can choose the intercom devices that best fit their needs, and manage them through a single cloud-native platform without being tied into a vendor’s proprietary ecosystem.”

The audio communication feature for Security Center SaaS is capable of supporting deployments ranging from a few intercoms to thousands across expansive enterprises.

Being cloud-native and based on an open architecture allows organisations to start on a smaller scale, pilot deployments with minimal investment, and rapidly expand by incorporating the intercom devices that meet their requirements.

At the time of launch, the feature will support intercom devices from Axis, with plans to expand compatibility with more vendors in future updates.

Robust cybersecurity and privacy features are integral to the design of Security Center SaaS. Similar to video and access control, audio data is treated as confidential information, secured with encrypted communications to protect data in transit.

Additionally, audit trails provide accountability during investigations and automated software updates, including regular security patches, ensure the system remains current against emerging threats.
