IDIS Unveils Edge AI Plus PTZ Cameras

  • IDIS has launched new Edge AI Plus PTZ cameras featuring advanced real-time analytics for critical security applications
  • The models offer powerful AI-driven auto-tracking, object classification, and extreme durability for challenging environments
  • This release is expected to support the Middle East security sector with enhanced reliability and automation

IDIS has expanded its Edge AI Plus Camera range with the launch of two powerful new PTZ models, enhancing real-time surveillance and security capabilities in high-risk environments across the Middle East.

South Korean surveillance manufacturer IDIS has introduced the Edge AI Plus 8MP LightMaster IR PTZ (DC-S6883WRA) and the 6MP LightMaster IR PTZ (DC-S6683WRA), bringing advanced edge analytics and proactive security tools to market. Both cameras are NDAA-compliant and offer AI auto-tracking, rapid 40x optical zoom, electronic image stabilization and scene coverage designed for critical infrastructure and public safety use.

The PTZ auto-tracking functionality, combined with IDIS’s A-Cut and AI Search technology, makes it easy for control room teams and system users to track the movements of people and vehicles across multiple cameras and from scene to scene.

Key features include object detection and classification for people and vehicles, advanced search capabilities by attributes such as gender, age and colour, and four new AI analytics functions: crowd detection, abandoned/removed object detection and fall detection. These are powered by IDIS’s latest in-house deep learning engine, IDLA Pro, which also underpins the manufacturer’s broader Edge AI Plus range.

Hardware designed for challenging environments sets the new PTZ cameras apart, with vandal-proof construction, environmental ratings for dust, water and corrosion, and smart controls for accurate real-time object tracking. Night vision extends up to 400 metres, ensuring robust coverage in both bright and low light. The cameras are positioned for use in industries such as oil & gas, manufacturing, traffic monitoring, education and retail, where high-footfall and perimeter security are priorities.

IDIS promises zero license fees, extended warranties and low total cost of ownership, aiming to help organisations streamline security management while maximising return on investment.

Jun-Kyung Sung, Head of Product Planning Team at IDIS, said: “With the launch of our Edge AI Plus PTZ, we are extending our Edge AI Plus range to meet the needs of a broader range of customers, allowing users to target the latest AI-powered automated detection capabilities across wide areas and to strengthen perimeter security. And making it a great choice for a range of wide-area applications, and for use across hazardous sites and environments that experience extreme temperatures and humidity, our new PTZ, made in South Korea, features high-quality and rugged construction, highly accurate AI-powered alerts, and reliable real-time image capture and evidential storage.”

As threats to critical infrastructure and public spaces evolve, technology like IDIS’s Edge AI Plus PTZ cameras stands to influence standards for proactive risk mitigation throughout the region.
