Bush Fire in Simonstown

A bushfire has broken out in the province of Simonstown in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Emergency services are combatting the fire, with teams climbing hills carrying hoses and buckets, whilst helicopters fly overhead to control the spread of the fire.

Bush Fires are particularly common in areas around Simonstown due to the arid heat, mixed with the common dry plants that populate the area.

The area is also populated by dense forestry, giving more material for the fire to spread through.

Authorities suggest the blaze is well under control, however, the fire has been reported to be continuing to move through the peninsula, with the sky an eerie orange and locals are concerned as they are instructed to evacuate.

Security & Fire Africa will continue to report on this fire, as it takes place.
