The Security Questions Summit in Rwanda

The five-day meeting, themed “Prevention and response to unconstitutional changes in Central Africa,” aims to chart lasting solutions for security issues on the continent, with a focus on Central Africa.

The ECCAS (Economic Community of Central African States) are part of the 56th Ministerial Meeting of the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee Meeting, hosted in Rwanda. The meeting convenes against the backdrops of war in Eastern DR Congo, and other threats to regional security.

Discussing the contents of the security meeting, Amb, Guillaume Kavaruganda, the Director-General of Europe, America and International Organisations at Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Rwanda wants peace and security in the region because countries and people can trade and cooperate with each other when there is peace. During this meeting, every country will present its own security situation and we shall discuss the solutions together,”

The goal of the meeting, is to find new security and stability solutions, whilst tackling internal issues within the constitution of Central Africa.

The meeting will be concluded this coming Friday, the 24th of November 2023, beginning on the 21st of November.
