ChatGPT is taking the world by storm with its widespread capabilities and its applicability in a number of fields.

Schools across the UK, the US and the Middle East are looking at ways of restricting Chat-GPT’s usage in homework and work assignments, due to the generative AI’s capability of completing tasks at the highest possible quality on demand.

Able to write books, program code, reference historical events with pinpoint accuracy and even have philosophical debates at the highest level, the ai shows no signs of slowing down as it is incorporated in industries around the world.

However – there exists a more pervasive form of ChatGPT, such is the dual nature of the internet.

WormGPT is a new programme, launched through telegram which is advertised by its designers as being untraceable, having no user logs and perfect for black hat activity. The malicious ai tool has unlimited characters, optional saving methods and speedy iterations on existing code that it has written and has the ability to take the best features from other existing ai models.

As ChatGPT evolves, so too will this WormGPT, posing an ever-present threat.

The developers of the tool assert its potential for malware, BEC phishing and hacking tools – accepting only cryptocurrency payments for the application, to make it harder to track for authorities. As malware, social engineering and malicious code continue to evolve, so too must cyber security defences.
